We're very happy to invite artist and cook Amanny Ahmad back to e5 Bakehouse on Sunday July 16th for a special collaborative dinner. This meal will draw upon Palestinian flavors, the abundance of summer produce, and fire cooking, to celebrate the beginning of summertime. Through our relationship to food, we ground ourselves in the importance of our connection to land; with care, integrity, and respect for the earth, our ingredients, and the beings who produce them.
Sharing food and ideas with friends and strangers is a wonderful thing and we hope you feel the same.
Amanny Asell Ahmad is a Palestinian-American artist, cook, land worker, and folk herbalist, currently based in the high altitude desert of the land of the Pueblo people, Taos, New Mexico. In her research-based practice, she studies things small & large: whole systems design, food as language, land as life, historical & contemporary relationships between humans & non humans, botany, mycology, indigenous culinary traditions & plant use, histories of resistance; and how those things can teach us about preservation, survival, and world-making. Her research culminates in a variety of forms: writing, photographs, objects, garden design, fermentation, herbal medicines, and most publicly, meals, often incorporating wild ingredients and fire cooking.
Join us and enjoy a full set menu showcasing the seasonal produce from Fellows Farm and other local organic suppliers in the cosy setting of the Millhouse’s backyard. Menu will be released soon, but is subject to change, and as ever accompanied with e5's sourdough bread.
