Come along to one of our evening cookery classes at the e5 bakehouse and get stuck into preparation of an authentic and delicious meal with the help of expert chef Ruth Quinlan. Ruth has cooked her way around the world, from Hong Kong to Buenos Aires, and Ibiza to Hackney. She was Head Chef at Bermondsey Kitchen and co-wrote the Eagle cookbook.
You will learn a load of delicious and surprising recipes, not just boring old houmous!
Each class will focus on a particular region, unlocking the secrets of ingredients and techniques from each regions’ kitchens.
Sample menus, please let us know if there are particular dishes you wish to learn and we will try and incorporate:
Harissa and carrot salad, tehineh and parsley sauce, pita or fatayer (stuffed breads), “Israeli” salad, leaf salad with pomegranate molasses dressing, falafel, lamb maqlub, kibbeh, ma-amoul (petit fours), orange and almond cake with rose syrup, dried fig jam
Bruschette: ricotta and rocket, tomatoes and basil, caponata, focaccia, risotto – gremolata, sardinian lamb with olives, artichokes, parsley and lemon, pannacotta with berries.
Gravadlax with whisky, apple and dill salad, fishcakes with alioli, fried squid with sweet chilli sauce, salt baked sea bass, bream baked with potatoes, tomatoes and herbs, Jansson’s temptation NB. Fish may vary according to availability.
Chana dal, bhajis, potato and mushroom curry, makhani murgh chicken curry, Gujerati green beans, cauliflower with fennel and mustard seeds, spiced rice and coriander chutney, semolina halva and yoghurt
Beetroot, hazelnut, goat cheese and watercress bruschetta, semolina gnocchi with slow roast tomatoes, chilli chard and pesto, seasonal fruit meringue roulade

Classes run from 6pm to approx 9pm, and typically on Tuesday evenings;
Tues 6th February 2018 – Syrian Supper Club Class

Thurs 8th March 2018 – Vegetarian Celebration

We are also happy to accept bookings for private class for a maximum 8 people.
We appreciate that there will be circumstances whereby you will need to cancel your booking or change the date.
Bookings cancelled more than 14 days prior to the start of a course will be refunded. Alternatively you may transfer to another date free of charge.
Bookings cancelled within 14 days of the start of a course are non-refundable and non-transferable, the only exception being if we are able to refill your place. If we are able to do so a full refund will be given, or you may transfer to another date.
